#8 Pochade Sky and Palms

Clouds are a relatively rare thing here in Los Angeles. So when they present themselves, I try to take the opportunity. I'm working from a combination of photo and Plein Air real life. Clouds move so fast that I can't get them in time with my slow painting. I think this took a total of 1 1/2 hours to do.

After a stunning photograph by Tracy Moore...I was inspired by this photograph...

Mission Chapel

Really struggling with recognizing the right value. The next few paintings may be merely 2 restricted to a sort of Black and White or Sepia tone so that I can work out recognizing the right values.

#6 Pochade Lake Hodges

I started this in the morning but ended finishing it as dusk. So as is, it is a view a dusk.

But what's with the forground and the 'alien' sticking his tentacled head up to see the view??

I posted this small because, it looks a lot better small and far away.

#5 Pochade HillHouses and Mountain

Another View to the hillside and the Mountain. I'm using a larger brush so the painting is better. But I like the energy of the other two hillside paintings better. I labored over this one more in a way.

Can't become a great painter in a day....but I keep trying.

Please note: SQUINT YOUR EYES AND MAKE THIS BLURRY

The View out my front deck. Okay so here it is: I haven't done a painting a day thus far. But from the next month I will be doing a painting a day. Mostly done within one hour. Mostly done Plein Air in miniature: a sketch; an impression if you will. I believe these are called Pochade.

So here it is: my 1st Pochade! I think I like it!

...and in general, for the Pochades, squint your eyes and make it blurry...it gives you the general idea / impression.
